Acura is discreetly updating the Acura TLX sedan for 2024.
It starts with a simplified model line-up, one that starts with the front-wheel-drive Acura TLX Technology, which now comes standard with 19-inch wheels, Milano leather seating, a ELS Studio premium audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility with wireless charging pad, remote engine start and ambient lighting. Next comes the all-wheel drive TLX A-Spec, also with 19-inch wheels, followed by the top-of-the-line TLX Type S, shod with 20-inchers. Gone is the luxury-oriented TLX Advance with its adaptive dampers.
All 2024 TLX models benefit from the usual mid-cycle refresh updates, such as a redesigned front fascia that’s far more sculpted, along with a frameless grille, revised grille patterns and new wheel designs. The A-Spec also gets a reworked gloss black rear spoiler with round tailpipes. The Type S gets black 20-inch wheels, or optionally, copper-fnished.
There’s also an upgraded version of AcuraWatch’s driver-assistance safety system. The grille-mounted radar now has a 120-degree field of view, while the windshield-mounted front camera has a 90-degree field, both up from 50 degrees on the departing TLX. This increases the system’s capacity to detect collisions and improves its recognition of signs, bicycles, pedestrians, and lane markings. Additionally, the car’s blind spot recognition system extends its reach behind it, allowing for warnings about approaching vehicles.
Acura has also tried to quell cabin noise, adding acoustic front door glass, thicker carpeting, more sound insulation and active noise cancelation on the TLX A-Spec and Type S. The Type S also gets a new high-resolution surround view camera and 10.5-inch head-up display. High-performance summer tires are optional.
Engines remain unchanged, with most models having a 272-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission. Type S models get a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 and a sport-tuned version of the 10-speed automatic.
Pricing hasn’t been released on the new Acura TLX, but look for some price hike from the 2023 TLX’s $45,245-to-$56,945 price range, including $1,195 destination charge.
